SUPER SAHARA

WATERPROOF MASONRY COATING

It is nearing the season when leaky basements, below and above grade masonry structures, become more of a problem due to Spring rains.

Concrete, by its very nature, is a porous material and as such it will, particularly under pressure, permit the passage of moisture through the structure both above and below grade levels. Since most porous, concrete block found much of its early application below grade level, it is not surprising that much of early development effort was devoted to waterproofing residential basements with Sahara.

As the below grade commercial construction, such as in multi-basements of larger structures or parking, began to expand in usage, it is not surprising that architects and contractors have noticed the success below grade level, particularly in warehouses, car washes, store factories, office buildings, etc.

Sahara is as foolproof as is possible. It does not require pre-wetting of the wall before coating, or the use of exotic application equipment. Sahara may be applied to new, uncured concrete, as well as wet or dry surfaces. This tough coating is resistant to mildew and alkali.

There is no limitation in the application of Sahara. Brush, roller, conventional air spray or hopper are all widely used. Sahara dries to touch in two hours and can be tinted to a variety of colors. Sahara protects and decorates in one coat. In those tough, moisture-plagued, problem areas, Sahara is a product that is a proven performer.

OIL/ALKYD HOUSE PAINT

Today's trend with consumer paints is in the direction of latex products. Several companies have discontinued many oil based finishes, both interior and exterior. At Davis Paint we recognize the continual need for shake and shingle paints. Davis Everbright Shake-Shingle-Siding Paint and Cook Suede House Paint are designed to give a flat, somewhat porous film that facilitates breathing and permits the escape of moisture, much like that of a latex finish.

These finishes are full-bodied, thixortropic oil modified-alkyd flats that fill the needs where a latex coating may be limited. Davis Shake/Shingle and Cook Suede are especially ideal for cool weather painting. Even in cool weather they maintain excellent application properties. Also, in situations where the surface is in less than ideal condition, an oil based finish is a little more forgiving than a latex. (Note: There is no substitute for proper surface preparation).

These products are formulated for use on primed or previously painted wood shakes, plywood, shingles, hardboard, rough sawn siding and metal. These shake shingle finishes demonstrate a very positive dry, overnight recoat, wide selection of color and are very durable.
