EVENTONE INTERIOR URETHANE S5-3  0395

VARNISH STAIN

DESCRIPTION:

Varnish stain allows you to stain and varnish in one simple step. This is truly the easy way to obtain rich color and durability for interior woods. This product may be used over previously varnished or shellacked surfaces. Product may be applied by brush or spray.

SURFACE PREPARATION:

The surface should be clean, dry and free of all contaminants. New wood should be sanded smooth and dust removed with a lint free cloth or tack rag. Always sand with the grain. Previously finished wood should be stripped down to bare wood completely, using paint and varnish remover. Follow manufacturer's instructions and warnings for proper use of paint and varnish remover. Proceed as with new wood.

UNFINISHED SURFACES:

NATURAL UNFILLED WOOD - Apply two or three coats of urethane varnish. Allow each coat to dry at least 12 hours, but no longer than 48 hours. Avoid heavy coats. Sand between coats and remove sanding dust.

STAINED WOOD - For beautiful wood color effects, stain wood with Eventone Wiping Stain and allow to dry overnight. Apply two coats of urethane varnish. Allow each coat to dry at least 12 hours, but no longer than 48 hours. Avoid heavy coats. Sand between coats and remove sanding dust.

STAINED FILLED WOOD - Opened-grained wood such as oak, walnut and mahogany may be filled with wood filler, either tinted to match the color of stain or untinted, or natural effect. Apply sanding sealer and allow to dry overnight, sand lightly for maximum smoothness. Remove sanding dust and apply urethane varnish. If a second coat of urethane varnish is required, allow first coat to dry at least 12 hours, but no longer than 48 hours. Sand lightly and remove sanding dust before recoating. If no filler is to be used on opened-grained wood, and on closed-grained wood such as fir, pine and birch, omit sanding sealer.

PREVIOUSLY FINISHED SURFACES:

Remove old wax, oil and dirt from surface to be refinished with a strong detergent solution, then wipe surface clean using mineral spirits. Allow to dry and sand thoroughly to dull surface for maximum adhesion. Remove sanding dust with a tack rag. Apply one or more coats of urethane varnish. Allow each coat to dry at least 12 hours, but no longer than 48 hours, and sand lightly before recoating.

Old varnish in poor condition should be removed either by sanding or with stripper, following label directions. Finish as for unfinished surface.

FLOORS:

MIXING:

Apply at package viscosity. Stir satin varnish before use and periodically during use to insure even sheen of finish coat. The most common complaint about any satin varnish is variation in sheen caused by insufficient or total lack of stirring.

Apply with a clean good quality brush, or by spray using the following recommendations as a guide. Avoid heavy coats.
