CLEAR WOOD FINISH

DESCRIPTION:

Eventone Liquid Plastic is an extremely durable, flexible, alcohol and abrasion resistant polyurethane clear finish for interior or exterior use. Eventone Liquid Plastic Gloss is excellent for interior or exterior unfinished wood surfaces. Eventone Liquid Plastic Satin is for use on interior finished or unfinished wood surfaces such as floors, paneling and kitchen cabinets. Brush application is recommended, however, product may also be applied by spray.

SURFACE PREPARATION:

The surface should be clean, dry and free of all contaminants. New wood should be sanded smooth and dust removed with a lint free cloth or tack rag. Always sand with the grain. Previously finished wood should be stripped down to bare wood completely, using paint and varnish remover. Follow manufacturer's instructions and warnings for proper use of paint and varnish remover. Proceed as with new wood.

UNFINISHED SURFACES:

NATURAL UNFILLED WOOD - Apply two or three coats of urethane varnish. Allow each coat to dry at least 12 hours, but no longer than 48 hours. Avoid heavy coats. Sand between coats and remove sanding dust.

STAINED WOOD - For beautiful wood color effects, stain wood with wiping stain and allow to dry overnight. Apply two coats of urethane varnish. Allow each coat to dry at least 12 hours, but no longer than 48 hours. Avoid heavy coats. Sand between coats and remove sanding dust.

STAINED FILLED WOOD - Opened-grained wood such as oak, walnut and mahogany may be filled with wood filler, either tinted to match the color of stain or untinted, or natural effect. Apply sanding sealer and allow to dry overnight, sand lightly for maximum smoothness. Remove sanding dust and apply urethane varnish. If a second coat of urethane varnish is required, allow first coat to dry at least 12 hours, but no longer than 48 hours. Sand lightly and remove sanding dust before recoating. If no filler is to be used on opened-grained wood, and on closed-grained wood such as fir, pine and birch, omit sanding sealer.

PREVIOUSLY FINISHED SURFACES:

Remove old wax, oil and dirt from surface to be refinished with a strong detergent solution, then wash with mineral spirits. Allow to dry and sand thoroughly to dull surface for maximum adhesion. Remove sanding dust with a tack rag. Apply one or more coats of urethane varnish. Allow each coat to dry at least 12 hours, but no longer than 48 hours, and sand lightly before recoating.

Old varnish in poor condition should be removed either by sanding or with commercial stripper, following label directions. Finish as for unfinished surface.

FLOORS:

NEW FLOORS - Sand smooth. APPLY EVENTONE LIQUID PLASTIC TO BARE, UNFILLED FLOORS ONLY. Reduce first coat with one pint of mineral spirits to each gallon of urethane varnish. Allow to dry at least 12 hours, but no longer than 48 hours. Sand lightly and remove sanding dust. Apply second coat of urethane varnish without reduction. The longer the final coat is allowed to dry before traffic is allowed, the harder and more mar resistant the finish.

OLD FLOORS - Remove finish to bare wood and finish as shown under "New Floors" above.

MIXING:

Stir satin varnish before use and periodically during use to insure even sheen of finish coat. The most common complaint about any satin varnish is variation in sheen caused by insufficient or total lack of stirring.

When applying by spray, or using as seal coat on unfinished wood, one pint of mineral spirits should be added to each gallon urethane varnish.

Apply with a clean good quality brush, or by spray using the following recommendations as a guide. Avoid heavy coats.
