GOLDEN GLOW SEMI-TRANSPARENT STAIN S6-2  0915

DESCRIPTION:

A decorative and durable semi-transparent stain primarily for use on rough sawn board, decks, fences, plywood and other similar exterior wood surfaces. Protects wood without hiding the natural texture and grain beauty. Ideal for any type of clean and dry natural lumber, plywood or pressure-treated wood. Semi-Transparent Stain contains a special additive to provide maximum water repellency, which blocks moisture helping to retard warping, cracking and peeling. Mildewcides are also incorporated to inhibit mildew growth.

SPECIAL CAUTIONS:

Do not apply directly to bare concrete because the alkali in the concrete will destroy the film and cause peeling and flaking.

Do not apply Stain when surface, air or material temperature is below 40° F. (4° C.)

For decks and horizontal surface use, apply only one coat. On siding and vertical surfaces, one or two coats can be applied depending on depth of color desired. When using clear, untinted product, annual application recommended.

SURFACE PREPARATION:

All surfaces must be clean and dry prior to staining. Remove dirt, oil and grease by washing with trisodium phosphate (TSP) and thoroughly rinse with clean water and let dry. Remove soil, pencil marks and grade stamps by sanding. Remove loose wood fibers with a stiff brush. Caulk cracks around windows, door frames, etc. Nail down loose siding if necessary.

MILDEW: Where mildew is present apply a solution of 1 part household bleach and 3 part water to kill and remove mildew. Rinse thoroughly with water and let dry.

CAUTION: Do not mix bleach solution with ammonia or detergents containing ammonia. Wear rubber gloves and eye goggles to protect eyes and skin. Protect grass, trees and shrubs.

UNFINISHED SURFACES:

NEW WOOD - To reduce wood surface deterioration, apply stain as soon as possible after wood installation is complete. Be sure wood is clean, dry and mildew free.

PREVIOUSLY STAINED SURFACES:

PREVIOUSLY STAINED WOOD - Be certain to remove any flaking stain and proceed as with new wood. Not recommended over surfaces that have been previously finished with latex or oil house paints, solid color stain or preprimed sidings. Recommended only for bare wood or over semi-transparent stained wood of a similar or lighter color.

WEATHERED WOOD - Power washing is an effective method of removing dirt, discoloration and bleeding (extractive) stains. Follow manufacturer's recommendations and warnings prior to using high pressure washers. If power washing is not practical or wood is extremely discolored, application of equal parts water and household bleach will lighten wood color and kill mildew. Wear protective goggles and gloves. In addition, protect grass, trees and shrubs. Rinse thoroughly and let dry.

APPLICATION:

Mix thoroughly before and during application. Product is ready to apply, do not thin. Do not apply when surface is hot (i.e. in direct sunlight). For best results, use a natural bristle brush. Roller application should be limited to rough surfaces only. If spraying, "back roll" to insure good penetration and even coverage. Keep a wet edge to avoid lap marks and stain in small sections. Don't stop in the middle of a board, try to work to corners or edges. If an additional coat is desired, wait at least 12 hours before applying a second coat. Do a small area to check color since wood type and porosity will affect final color.

To spray, use the following recommendation or equal as a guide:
