ZONE MARKING PAINT

DESCRIPTION:

A vinyl acrylic latex paint for striping and lane marking on asphalt or concrete highways, parking lots, curbs and factory floors. This product has excellent hide and bleed resistance and dries to a highly visible flat finish. Available in yellow and white.

Reprinted from National Paint and Coatings Association, Inc., FLAMMABILITY OF PAINT STUDY conducted by Southwest Research Institute, Project 3-3774-141. "We believe this study provides substantial evidence that conventional paints and coatings do not increase the flame spread of either non-flammable or flammable substrated upon which they are applied. It also indicates that any fuel contribution or smoke density increase is insignificant when compared with the contribution of the substrate itself."

SPECIAL CAUTIONS:

Keep packaged material from freezing. If material has been frozen, do not stir until completely thawed. If material, when stirred after thawing, is of uniform consistency and has a suitable viscosity with no lumps, it may be used.

Do not apply when surface, air or material temperature is below 50° F. (10° C.).

SURFACE PREPARATION:

GENERAL - Surface must be clean. Remove oil and grease with a detergent solution or paint thinner. Wash off dirt with warm soapy water and rinse with fresh water. Rust should be removed by wirebrushing or sanding. Refer to "Surface Preparation Guide" for more detailed instructions.

MASONRY AND CONCRETE - Slick troweled concrete surfaces should be etched with a 10% solution of Muriatic (Hydrochloric) Acid in water. Allow acid solution to remain on the surface for about 15 minutes. When etching action is complete, flush away remaining acid with large amounts of clean water. Allow surface to dry and remove dust before painting with Latex Floor Finish.

On surfaces where muriatic acid cannot be used to neutralize the efflorescence, sand, scrape, and wire brush and coat with Masonry Conditioner before painting.

Concrete and haydite blocks should be filled with Latex Block Filler. Allow to dry overnight before topcoating.

No primer is necessary on concrete and masonry surfaces.

IRON AND STEEL - Prime with metal primer and allow to dry overnight before topcoating.

PREVIOUSLY FINISHED SURFACES:

Remove all loose and flaking paint by scraping and sanding. All calcimine paints must be removed before painting by scraping and washing. Scuff sand slick, hard glossy surfaces with coarse sandpaper. Liquid deglossers may be used to promote adhesion by softening and dulling the old slick, hard glossy paint and removing grease, wax, etc.

Spot prime bare areas with recommended primer and allow to dry before topcoating.

MIXING:

Stir each container thoroughly prior to use. No thinning is required for brush or roller application. For spray application, up to one pint of water may be added to each gallon of paint.
