GOLDEN GLOW GLOSS OIL HOUSE PAINT 1- 3 5155
DESCRIPTION:
Golden Glow Gloss Oil is a high quality, mildew resistant, extremely durable gloss linseed oil base house paint. Golden Glow may be used on any primed or previously painted wood, metal and masonry surfaces as well as factory finished aluminum or steel siding. Golden Glow is safe to use above brick walls or other dark colored surfaces because it has controlled chalking and is not subject to chalk washdown. Product may be applied by brush, roller or spray, however, brush is preferred.
Do not apply directly to bare concrete because the alkali in the concrete will destroy the film and cause peeling and flaking.
Do not apply Oil Based House Paint when surface, air or material temperature is below 40° F. (4° C.)
GENERAL
- Surfaces must be clean. Remove oil and grease with paint thinner. Clean off dirt with a detergent solution and rinse with clean water. Refer to "Surface Preparation Guide" for more detailed instructions.WOOD - Countersink nailheads and sand smooth if rough. Seal all knots and sap streaks with shellac. Prime new wood or badly weathered wood surfaces with alkyd wood primer and allow to dry overnight. Fill nail holes and cracks with a quality wood putty or caulk.
MASONRY AND CONCRETE - Not recommended for these surfaces. Use latex house paint for exterior masonry or concrete surfaces.
IRON AND STEEL - Remove rust by sandblasting, wirebrushing or sanding. Prime with metal primer and allow to dry overnight before topcoating.
GALVANIZED METAL – Wipe surface clean using mineral spirits to remove oil and grease. Prime with galvanized metal primer and allow to dry overnight before topcoating.
ALUMINUM - Remove surface oxides, dirt, oil and grease by washing with paint thinner. Prime with metal primer and allow to dry overnight before topcoating.
PREPRIMED HARDBOARD AND T1-11 PLYWOOD SIDING - Surface should be free of dirt and all contaminants. These surfaces must be primed prior to topcoating.
Remove all loose and peeling paint by scraping, wirebrushing, power washing or sanding. Spot prime all bare areas with recommended primer and allow to dry before topcoating. Replace all missing or loose caulking around door and window areas.
Wash off dirt and chalk with a detergent solution, then rinse off with a strong stream of water. Slick soaps may form on the surface of aged but unexposed old house paint films particularly under eaves. These will prevent adhesion of the new paint unless removed using the same procedure as for dirt and chalk.
Remove mildew using a commercial mildew remover or a solution of one quart household chlorine bleach with three quarts of water. Protect eyes with goggles and hands with rubber gloves. Apply solution to affected areas and allow to stand until mildew is bleached and then rinse well with water. Badly affected areas may require two treatments.
