PORCH & FLOOR ENAMEL
DESCRIPTION:
Is a premium quality, quick-drying satin finish latex floor paint. Is especially suited for use on unpainted, etched interior or exterior concrete (new or old) and previously painted or primed wood. Ideal for use on basement floor, steps, porches and factory and warehouse floors. This material has excellent abrasion resistance and will withstand the severe abuse and weathering encountered both in and out of doors. Product features quick dry, water clean-up and easy application with brush, roller or spray.
Reprinted from National Paint and Coatings Association, Inc., FLAMMABILITY OF PAINT STUDY conducted by Southwest Research Institute, Project 3-3774-141. "We believe this study provides substantial evidence that conventional paints and coatings do not increase the flame spread of either non-flammable or flammable substrate upon which they are applied. It also indicates that any fuel contribution or smoke density increase is insignificant when compared with the contribution of the substrate itself."
Keep packaged material from freezing. If material has been frozen, do not stir until completely thawed. If material, when stirred after thawing, is of uniform consistency and has a suitable viscosity with no lumps, it may be used.
Do not apply when surface, air or material temperature is below 50° F. (10° C.).
GENERAL
- Surface must be clean. Remove oil and grease with a detergent solution or paint thinner. Wash off dirt with warm soapy water and rinse with fresh water. Rust should be removed by wirebrushing or sanding. Refer to "Surface Preparation Guide" for more detailed instructions.Sand smooth and remove sanding dust. Countersink nails. Apply first coat of Latex Floor Finish and allow to dry for 30 minutes. Putty nail holes. When putty is dry, apply the second coat of floor finish.
MASONRY AND CONCRETE
- Slick troweled concrete surfaces should be etched with a 10% solution of Muriatic (Hydrochloric) Acid in water. Allow acid solution to remain on the surface for about 15 minutes. When etching action is complete, flush away remaining acid with large amounts of clean water. Allow surface to dry and remove dust before painting with Latex Floor Finish. On surfaces where muriatic acid cannot be used to neutralize the efflorescence, sand, scrape, and wire brush and coat with Masonry Conditioner before painting.
Concrete and haydite blocks should be filled with Latex Block Filler. Allow to dry overnight before topcoating.
No primer is necessary on concrete and masonry surfaces.
IRON AND STEEL - Prime with metal primer and allow to dry overnight before topcoating.
Remove all loose and flaking paint by scraping and sanding. All calcimine paints must be removed before painting by scraping and washing. Scuff sand slick, hard glossy surfaces with coarse sandpaper. Liquid deglossers may be used to promote adhesion by softening and dulling the old slick, hard glossy paint and removing grease, wax, etc.
Spot prime bare areas with recommended primer and allow to dry before topcoating.

Stir each container thoroughly prior to use. No thinning is required for brush or roller application. For spray application, up to one pint of water may be added to each gallon of paint.
Do not apply when surface, air or material temperature is below 50° F.
Two coats are required for best appearance. Apply using a nylon wall brush or a short-nap roller. Keep brush or roller well filled and flow on freely.

Clean brushes, rollers and spray equipment, after each use, with warm soapy water, then rinse with clean water. Follow-up with mineral spirits in spray equipment to avoid rusting. Dispose of used paint and waste in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.
One gallon will cover 400 square feet (37 square meters per 3.785 liters) per coat on smooth surfaces. Rough or porous surfaces require more paint.
Optimum drying conditions are 60° F. to 90° F. (16° C. to 32° C.) at 50% R.H.
